Workers With Differences at Amazon
There was an article written about people with differences who work at Amazon entitled, “Disabled Amazon workers in corporate jobs allege ‘systemic discrimination.’” I personally don’t like the title and would have titled it, Amazon workers with disabilities allege ‘systemic discrimination.’ On May 31, 2025 there was a letter that was written on behalf of 200 individuals with disabilities to the executives and even chief executives describing that policies related to return-to-office mandates, which the letter said were being pushed on disabled workers who previously were allowed to work from home based on medical recommendations, accommodation procedures and accessibility. Among other issues, it raised concerns that employee decisions around accommodation were being driven by AI processes that, one source claimed, do not necessarily follow ADA rules. I would think that by now, there would be no discrimination against people with disabilities at all, and I’m frankly surprised that there are. People with disabilities should not be afraid to write to the executives of any company, and more importantly, the executives should not be afraid to meet with people with disabilities and personally discuss how they feel, asking what they need.
