What Happened To Doing The Right Thing
Is it just me, or is nobody comparing Donald Trump to Richard Nixon? I’m not much of a political writer, but I do fancy myself as a historian and do know a thing or two about Richard Nixon and Watergate. Sometimes, I wish President Nixon was alive just so he could see how the government is handling Trump because I know that the first thing Nixon would do is probably compare Trump’s crime to his own. Nixon’s head would be spinning faster than the sound barrier with what Trump has gotten away with. Nixon was forced to resign from the office of the Presidency of the United States, the highest office in the land of America, for hiring a few people to break into the National Democratic Headquarters to find out what the Democrats were doing. That almost seems like a misdemeanor of a crime compared to what Trump has done.
There used to be something in this country called treason, and everybody on the news was talking about it, but then it almost seemed like the journalists and media got bored of it or were distracted by another story. I remember when the media was reporting on how Donald Trump gave top-secret classified nuclear codes to Vladimir Putin… I thought that was going to be a huge story, which it was for about a week, and then everybody acted as if that was no big deal. I think Trump should go to prison for that alone. People don’t seem to be worried that now that a Russian dictator has those codes and could use our own nukes against us and blow this country back to the last ice age. I am so shocked that not even a police officer or an FBI agent or any type of agent is going to their boss and say, “hey, maybe we should look into our own president.” Everybody just seemed to let it go, but if I did something like that or, especially a person of color, it would be a whole different story. Whatever happened to doing the right thing in our so-called “United States,” where is the righteousness of the unity part?
