Too Much Stuff in America
I just watched a comedian on Netflix whose name is Ronny Chieng, and I highly recommend watching him. He talks about how there is so much “stuff” in America. One thing that he mentioned is one of my wife’s biggest pet peeves, and one of mine is that we waste napkins in this country. For instance, when we go to a fast food restaurant, especially McDonald's, we take more napkins than we need, and the ones that we don’t use, we just throw them away. It’s almost as if we are not even conscious of how many napkins we take. We just take them without even thinking about it. Another great point that Ronny Chieng made is that foreigners often will talk about the promise of America and what a great country it is or can be, but then when they come here, they see that all Americans talk about is how we just complain about almost everything and also how many screens we have. I know that most Americans need to be more thankful for what they have because, in general, we have more than what most countries have. But at the same time, this country is turning into a place where you are rich or poor; the middle class is disappearing. I think many Americans need to go out into the wilderness or go to a third-world country and experience other people who may not live like us. We need to learn how to appreciate what we have.
