TikTok Challenges
Many TikTok posts are hurting our children and need to be stopped. I don’t like to use the word stupid, but some of these are BEYOND STUPID. Consider the challenge “COOK YOUR CHICKEN IN NyQuil” that recently went viral on TikTok. The crazy thing is that people are doing this! It reached the point that the FDA (which presumably has more important things to do) had to issue the following warning: “Boiling a medication can make it much more concentrated and change its properties in other ways. Even if you don’t eat the chicken, inhaling the medication's vapors while cooking could cause high levels of the drugs to enter your body. It could also hurt your lungs.” No kidding!
Is this what our society is coming to, doing something that might hurt you just because people are doing it on TikTok? It used to be that people would actually stop and think for a while, but I guess we are coming to a new age where we just act on compulsion. What’s funny is, you don’t see people with Learning Disabilities doing this stuff; it’s your “so called” “normal” kids. Now the question is, are these kids/people stupid? Or are they just acting out because they aren’t getting enough attention? Do they just want to feel included in latest trend?
I feel some kids these days don’t have much common sense, or maybe their parents aren’t doing enough to supervise them. If you’re just a regular Joe -- meaning if you are not a life coach or somebody who has a class to help parents with their children -- parents get very offended if you bring up how they should supervise their children. I also feel like teachers in our schools are going to have to teach our kids what not to do on social media. It’s going to take a village to fix this.
