The Launch Party
When you have been working on something for three years, it takes a while for reality to kick in when you are finally planning your launch party. The launch party for my mezcal, Bonded Roots, will be held on May 30th at Cafe Milano, which will be invitation-only. As I kind of explained in my last blog, we are first going to do a private event to see if people like Bonded Roots Mezcal; the few people who have tried it seem to like it a lot. In fact, the Mexican government awarded it the “extraordinary” label, so we may use it and put it on the bottle. I will apologize for saying the bottle will be ready “next month” in the past because Fabiola and I started to get annoyed that I kept having to say it. Now, before Fabiola, I never even really drank tequila, let alone mezcal. After drinking both for about 10 years now, I can honestly say that Bonded Roots Mezcal is one of the best mezcals my wife and I have ever tried. The Mexican government doesn't just give you an "extraordinary" sticker on every tequila or mezcal label; it really has to be good. So, like I said before, the first tasting will be at Cafe Milano in Georgetown, DC, on May 30th, but after that, we'll be doing a pop-up at Martin’s Tavern right around the corner. Also, we are selling the bottle for $99.99, which I know sounds quite expensive for a mezcal, but ours is artisanal and additive-free. We are taking the advice of our mezcalero, Juan Diego, on how much we could sell it for. So if you can, please don’t be afraid to buy a bottle, and anyone is welcome to buy a case, which will be six bottles. Can’t wait to see you at the events!
