My Interview With Gov. Gavin Newsom
Gavin Newsom Said To His Mom He Was Dumb; Now He's The California Governor
Here is my interview with Gavin Newsom on his dyslexia in which he talks about when he was diagnosed with dyslexia when he thought he was 7 or 8 years old, but how he found out on his own that he was younger than that. His “parents never wanted to “stigmatize me.” He came home from school one day early and went to his mom's office where he found the papers that described his diagnosis of dyslexia. He explains how his mom was more involved in his life than his father when it came to him feeling like he was dumb because of his dyslexia. Then on January 8, 1997 he was elected a Member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors from the 2nd district and held the position until January 8, 2004. On the same day he was elected the 42nd Mayor of San Francisco which he held that office until January 10, 2011. On the same day he retired from being mayor, he was elected the 49th Lieutenant Governor of California which he held until January 7, 2019. I said to him off the air, “You should run for president.” he said with a smile on his face, “not a chance.” However, on the same day that he left the office of being the Lieutenant Governor he was elected the 40th Governor of California. The reason why we feel dumb sometimes is because of how society shows us how we should feel and do things a certain way. So never say you are dumb.
