Life can be like a ship, just like sailing through calm and rough waters. However, sometimes we all need to anchor our ship. In life you can think that you have found the perfect person and then boom, right when you think you know them they pull the carpet from underneath you. That happed to both me and my current wife so we have always had that in common. When I ended my relationship, I saw the floor collapsing, but Fabiola did not. I’m not going to share to much detail here, but show just enough skin if you know what I mean?
Before both of our divorces, we both tried our hardest to make it work, but in the end, our marriages both just capsized and we were underwater. Long story short, once we had heard about each other, it took us about 6th months for us to meet. She saw a picture of me and wasn’t too sure; but coming from a family of journalists and authors, one should never judge a book by it’s cover. I saw a picture of her and heard that she like the bad boys. Her dad was on Facebook so I messaged him and he sent me a picture of her, which was out of all the pictures, a picture of her in a bikini holding three year old Khloe at the time in her arms at the beach. So I wrote back to him and said I “I would be honored to take your daughter out to dinner.” He liked that and said that would be fine. Her dad at the time said she was working, and also said that she gets off work at 5:00 so I would have to wait to call her then.
So when we finally went on our first date I dressed up the way a WASP should dress up and there is no other way to say it so I will just say it, I dress up preppy. However I wanted to throw a little spice in spice in there because I knew she was Latina so I put on my leather jacket. I got to the restaurant first and she was driving so I called her, and said she was close but running low on gas so I stayed on the phone with her until she got to National Harbor in Maryland. We had dinner and then I took her on the ferris wheel and it was amazing. One year later of dating I replicated everything and then proposed to her on the ferris wheel and she said yes. The next few days Fabiola and Khloe moved in with me and the lonely ship that I had been sailing, now had a crew and we put our anchor down and have never lifted it up.
Fabiola is simply the best, or as I call her Fabulous Fabiola. I almost don’t ask her to do anything at all, I just let her ask me to give her a hand and and I give her my heart and soul as she does for me. I was just a blip on the radar without her, a bird without feathers; and I have always been a moth and to the flame and she is the certainly the flame. She is every love poem written and recited and my fifty shades of grey. She is everything and I love her in a way I thought I could never love and and vice versa, she has taught me so much about love. For men, you know you think you know something about love, but then you meet a woman like Fabiola and everything you know is re written like how people try to rewrite history. I hate being without and living life without her. I am the marshmallow and chocolate and she is the graham crackers, she completes me. Happy birthday my love; I love you and Khloe so very much.
What a really beautiful piece of writing, Quinn. So moving, I am so happy you have met your wonderful Fabiola. It really gives so much encouragement for others who haven't yet found their dream companion. Tina
