Mocking Democracy
What happened to the dignity and decency of the general population of Americans? I never thought that I would see the day when a former president would mock democracy the way Donald Trump has. Before anybody gets upset and points fingers at me for badgering a former president, I just wanted to say that I am not doing that at all. But I am making people think about how lost we have become and how dim the bright lights that used to guide democracy have become. I am also trying to make not just Republican-Trump voters think but also to make people think in general. Is this the American dream? Is this what I want my future to be like? Or even to think, is this how I was raised? To laugh at a president who is making fun of another president just to be president again? I am not comparing Trump to Hitler or any other tyrants, but according to my knowledge of history, we learn, even in school when we are kids, that when people poke fun at other people, especially maliciously, that means they are jealous. We also learn from our parents, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say it at all.” Whatever happened to that lesson? In my mind, I feel that to be truly equal, there should be only one party, and both parties should be free to disagree at their own liberty. We should be treated more equally. The current generation of politicians reminds me of the old classic metal song, A.D.D (American Dream Denial), by the band System of a Down. Sorry for the F-Bomb, but here are some lyrics from one of my favorite metal songs, A.D.D.
“ We fought your wars with all of our hearts, you sent us back in body parts, you took our wills with the truth you stole. We don’t give a f-ck about your world, with all your global profits and all you’re to oppose, we don't give a fuck about your world right now, right now, right now, right now. There is no flag that is large enough to hide the shame of a man in cuffs. You watched your signs, then you closed the blind, you changed the channels, and you changed our minds. Your remainder is an unjustifiable egotistical power struggle, at the expense of the American dream, of the American dream, of the American dream…”
The following lyrics explain how the government and the people of the United States of America both feel at the moment.
