Judge By Character Not By Skin Color
The Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “I have a dream that one day people will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of the character.” There will always be racism, unfortunately, but people are becoming more and more tolerant of race, which is a very good thing. However, having grown up in Washington, DC, I have noticed one thing… people don’t judge you by the color of your skin, but they will judge you by the content of your character, especially politicians. On that note, here is a quote from my father that I will leave you with: “To hell with news! I’m no longer interested in news. I’m interested in causes. We don’t print the truth. We don’t pretend to print the truth. We print what people tell us. It’s up to the public to decide what’s true.” Here is another quote from my father talking to Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. This quote by Dad is precisely how I feel and wish I could say to any president of the United States; “Nothing's riding on this except the First Amendment to the Constitution, freedom of the press, and maybe the future of the country. Not that any of that matters, but if you guys f-k up again, I’m gonna get mad.”
Love you and miss you, Dad.
