Gus Walz
Gus Walz, who is the son of Democratic VP pick Gov. Tim Walz, has a nonverbal learning disorder, ADHD, and anxiety. He was recently made fun of by high school volleyball coach Amy Jacobson. She was the volleyball coach at Amundsen High School in Chicago. Jacobson apologized for calling Gus “weird” on Aug 23 on the Chicago Morning Answer on YouTube by saying, “ I want to apologize too because I would have reacted differently if I had the additional information. I had no idea that he had any type of learning disability or ADHD, and I thought I was well-read on the matter, and apparently I was not.” Sometimes, you can look at people and know that they are different, but even if you can’t, and especially if you can’t, you should never judge anybody just by looking at them. I would have thought that Jacobson’s parents would have taught her that. Whether you are well-read on the subject or not, you need to be careful. It saddens me that even in today’s age, people with differences and people in general are still getting made fun of verbally. We are better than this as a race, and we need to stop making mean comments about other people.
