From FriendsofQuinn.com to Inqludedu.com
Twenty-one years ago, I wanted to create a website to help others, mainly those with my syndrome, Velocardiofacial (velo-cardio-facial) syndrome. I had no idea how to create it or start it. Luckily for me, my parents knew the creator of the Washington Post online, Chris Schroder, and he was the CEO of a company called HeathCentral. So, my parents set up a meeting with him, and at first, it didn’t look like he was too interested, but I ended up working for him as the website manager of my own website. After a few years, I realized I was not getting the traction I wanted, so I expanded. I decided to include people with dyslexia and other learning differences. I gained some more friction after that. Then I thought to myself, maybe I could start interviewing people with dyslexia, and so I did. About ten years went by, and we updated Friends of Quinn again. A few more years went by, and we updated once more. I realized that the problem was the name. Friends of Quinn was too much about me, which I didn’t want. I wanted it to be about everybody else like me. So Fabiola and I found this company online called Colibrily. I still have trouble pronouncing their name. The CEO of the website looked at friendsofquinn.com and saw more potential in the website than really anybody else who had looked at it, so we hired them. One of the first things we started to talk about was the name, and thought that it would be a good idea to change it.
Inqludedu.com was the name we came up with, and every time I have a meeting with Colibrily, I almost feel like I am working with family. I loved the name Inqludedu because its meaning is self-explanatory; it literally means that at Inqludedu.com, our mission is to include you no matter what. We still have all the features from friendsofquinn.com and more. Here is a list of some all the old and new features on the Inqludedu website:
Resources for people with learning differences
Resources for support systems
Networking opportunities
Online and in-person events
Ways to campaign
Ways to partner with Included

Laws and legal resources such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act, and the Americans for Disability Act.
We also have access to other websites for more resources because I didn’t want to put on my website and get in trouble. You will see upcoming events on Inqludedu.com, like talks or events that are going on in your community. Well, please go and check it out. I hope you like it, and please don’t be afraid to email me. Also, when you see my blog in your email, it would be great if you click on the link to the blog itself and leave a comment instead of just emailing me. Let me know if you like my new website.
