Colin Farrell Ran Marathon to Raise Money For his Friend Emma Fogarty
Irish actor Colin Ferrell ran the Dublin marathon to help raise money for his friend Emma Fogarty, who has a rare skin condition called epidermolysis bullosa, also known as EB. The doctors had told Emma’s mother that she would not live beyond birth. Not only has Emma just celebrated her 40th birthday, but she is also a two-time cancer survivor. She hopes that the public will raise 400,000 euros that will go to the national charity helping the 300 people who share the same condition in Ireland. Colin Ferrell said the following about his friend, “Emma Fogarty is not only the strongest person I’ve ever met and a true worry, I’m lucky enough to call her a friend. For years now, I’ve been fortunate enough to bear witness not only to her courage and her vulnerability but her humor, her stubbornness and her great, great heart too.” People who are diagnosed with this syndrome endure a constant battle of pain but are also given a life expectancy of 30 to 35 years.
