Christmas Is Hard For Me

Christmas is a hard time for me because I never really know what to get anybody. It’s a lot of fun, but it’s also exhausting. There is a great quote from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase. His character in the movie is Clark W. “Sparky” Griswold, Jr., and his wife is Ellen Shirley, played by Beverly D’Angelo. Their daughter, Audrey, is in the movie and is played by Juliette Lewis. Audrey and her mother are downstairs in the movie, and Audrey is complaining about how she has to sleep in her brother’s bed because all of the grandparents are staying over for Christmas and need to sleep in the other beds. The only thing that Helen can say to help calm her daughter down is, “ Well… it’s Christmas, and we're all in misery.” I love that line because even though everybody seems happy when you see them on the streets and in the stores shopping, everybody is rushing and going crazy at the same time. It’s probably not just Christmas either, so Happy Holidays!
