April is Autism Awareness Month

Yes, April is Autism Awareness Month, and although I don’t have Autism, researchers have found that my syndrome, 22q11.2 deletion, has a link to Autism. For some reason, I have always related to those with Autism, and wouldn’t you know it, I have an association with them. According to the CDC., 1-36 children and 1-45 adults have Autism in the United States. Fragile X is the second most associated syndrome next to Autism. I’m not an expert or scientist, but I think people and researchers could associate VCFS with Autism when we are children.
